My Favourite Quotes from Ayn Rand

  • "In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours."
  • A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.
  • I like cigarettes, Miss Taggart. I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind - and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression.
  • A genius is a genius, regardless of the number of morons who belong to the same race—and a moron is a moron, regardless of the number of geniuses who share his racial origin.
  • If this boat were sinking, I'd give my life to save you. Not because it's any kind of duty. Only because I like you, for reasons and standards of my own. I could die for you. But I couldn't and wouldn't live for you.
  • Do you believe in God, Andrei? No. Neither do I. But that's a favorite question of mine. An upside-down question, you know. What do you mean? Well, if I asked people whether they believed in life, they'd never understand what I meant. It's a bad question. It can mean so much that it really means nothing. So I ask them if they believe in God. And if they say they do -- then, I know they don't believe in life. Why? Because, you see, God -- whatever anyone chooses to call God -- is one's highest conception of the highest possible. And whoever places his highest conception above his own possibility thinks very little of himself and his life. It's a rare gift, you know, to feel reverence for your own life and to want the best, the greatest, the highest possible, here, now, for your very own.

Please Question!!!

Yes the key to creativity. If one has to discover new horizons and do something that will change the way we look at a problem or taboo. As Albert Einstein said "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." Curiosity is something that is even root to thought. Its our curiosity that triggers the brain to search for things and that leads the way for various thoughts coming to our minds. So lets have a childs curiosity and a mature thinking to go with it. BuT I think our maturity is hindering the curiosity to comeup. If you are shy to question others, then question yourself and be rest assured the answer be found. Anyway if you had to choose between curiosity and maturity: GO WITH THE FORMER>

GOD ALWAYS GIVES, NEVER TAKES AWAY..

Hi, A beautiful story just for u.............read on....
Jenny was a bright-eyed, pretty five-year-old girl.

One day when she and her mother were checking out at the grocery store, Jenny saw a plastic pearl necklace priced at $2.50. How she wanted that necklace and when she asked her mother if she would buy it for her, her mother said, "Well, it is a pretty necklace, but it costs an awful lot of money. I'll tell you what. I'll buy you the necklace, and when we get home we can make up a list of chores that you can do to pay for the necklace. And don't forget that for your birthday Grandma just might give you a whole dollar bill, too. Okay?"
How Jenny loved those pearls. She wore them everywhere to kindergarten, bed, and when she went out with her mother to run errands. The only time she didn't wear them was in the shower - her mother had told her that they would turn her neck green. Now Jenny had a very loving daddy. When Jenny went to bed, he would get up from his favorite chair every night and read Jenny her favorite story. One night when he finished the story, he said, "Jenny, do you love me?""Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you," the little girl said."Well, then, give me your pearls.""Oh! Daddy, not my pearls!" Jenny said. "But you can have Rosie, my favorite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. And you can have her tea party outfit, too. Okay?""Oh no, darling, that's okay." Her father brushed her cheek with a kiss. "Good night, little one."
A week later, her father once again asked Jenny after her story, "Do you love me?""Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you.""Well, then, give me your pearls.""Oh, Daddy, not my pearls! But you can have Ribbons, my toy horse. Do you remember her? She's my favorite. Her hair is so soft, and you can play with it and braid it and everything. You can have Ribbons if you want her, Daddy," the little girl said to her father."No, that's okay," her father said and brushed her cheek again with a kiss. "God bless you, little one. Sweet dreams."Several days later, when Jenny's father came in to read her a story, Jenny was sitting on her bed and her lip was trembling. "Here, Daddy," she said, and held out her hand. She opened it and her beloved pearl necklace was inside. She let it slip into her father's hand. With one hand her father held the plastic pearls and with the other he pulled out of his pocket a blue velvet box.Inside of the box were real, genuine, beautiful pearls. He had them all along. He was waiting for Jenny to give up the cheap stuff so he could give her the real thing. So it is with our Heavenly Father. He is waiting for us to give up the cheap things....
In our lives so that he can give us beautiful treasure. Isn't God good? Are you holding onto things which God wants you to let go of?Are you holding onto harmful or unnecessary partners, relationships, habits and activities which you have become so attached to that it seems impossible to let go?Sometimes it is so hard to see what is in the other hand but do believe this one thing.................God will never take away something without giving you something better in its place.

Jenny agreed, and her mother bought the pearl necklace for her. Jenny worked on her chores very hard every day, and sure enough, her Grandma gave her a brand new dollar bill for her birthday. Soon Jenny had paid off the pearls.

For all sad words of...

" For all sad words of tongue or pen the saddest are these : It might have been."
Yeah! these are Sir Lord Alfred Tennyson's lines and damn true as well. I find this quote interesting when i get puzzled about my aim in life. This thought helps me a lot. We might never eventually or ultimately figure out why we were born and what is the sole aim in our lives but if we just remember to listen to our hearts and do what is right rather than what other people think is right, we will not be having any regets. And believe me regret is the worst kind of feeling you can ever have.
So just listen to your heart and rock on...

PROBLEMS! PROBLEMS! PROBLEMS!

This post is dedicated to one of my colleagues. I will not disclose the name but tell you about some of his characteristics. He is young, energetic, full knowledge and always lends a helping hand. He has one of he most ideal personalities. Still he says " Sir I feel frustrated what to do."
I am trying to solve his problem via this post. Life is full of opportunities and always gives a fair chance to everybody. In the end we do not get what we want rather what we deserve. If our actions are oriented towards good the results will always be good. All the good characteristics i talked about, are present in every individual. Its a THOUGHT. I believe thoughts are like parasites. They need some action to feed upon. Once we feed it with an action then it begins to behave accordingly.
Let me explain this to you in more technical terms. Our brain has two Engineers(Thanks to so many engineering colleges throughout the country!!!). Mr. Positive and Mr. Negative. They like all engineers believe in working only when the deadlines are hanging on our heads like swords(I hope you remember the one night fights before your end sem exams!!).
Here is their functioning. You get some project or decide to prepare for an exam. You think for a second that you cannot do it and Mr. Negative will be at work. He will tell you several reasons why you cannot do it and other odds against you and you will be defeated n your mind, not to mention in real life as well.
Now take another scenario, you think you can do it and Mr. Positive will come to work and tell you the benefits you would get by doing this, your past achievements and situations where you succeeded with a lot of struggle and other charms.
Both the Engineers are very efficient and they are fair as well.

Leave fear for it ruins you from the power of right thinking. Have the attitude that If it has got to be then it has to be me and you can achieve anything. You have infinite potential just learn to tap it. As one of my colleagues says The gift of life is life itself. So enjoy every moment. There is a wonderful life awaiting ahead of you. Opportunity knocks twice ,thrice, many times. Don't complain of noise just open the door.

Just learn to compare yourself against yourself.
